Use the Configure Options screen to provide general details about the configure. This screen is displayed when you initiate the SMU.
Retain Existing Database
If you are transferring a standard (primary) application, this property must contain either Y or N. If you are transferring a standby application to support a secondary database or Reports to inquire against a remote database, enter R or S.
For a Standard Application
Enter N to set up a new (empty) database (the existing database is cleared by DMS II initialize).
Enter Y to retain the database already on the target host (the database definition is altered to that on the transfer medium). You can enter Y only when any of the following conditions are true:
An existing database is present on the target host; that is, you are configuring over an existing application. If you enter Y and the existing database is not present, the Configure WFL hangs, giving the message DATABASE CONTROL File not found.
You are transferring Reports only, for a standard (primary) application (that is, not for use with an RDB secondary database). In this case, Y is preset in this property.
Note: If your transfer medium contains database data, entering Y replaces any existing data in the Runtime database.
For a Remote/Secondary Application
If you are configuring an optional standby System to support a secondary database, enter S or R. In either case, the database itself is not configured (or reorganized), as this has been performed by the Remote Database Backup clone procedure from the Database Operations Centre.
Enter R to configure all Agile Business Suite support software, in addition to your transferred programs.
Enter S to compile only your transferred programs, when you are transferring changed programs for an application that has been previously configured against your cloned database.
If you are transferring Reports only (for inquiry-only use against a Remote database):
If you do not have a standby application configured on the secondary host, enter R to indicate there is no application (in particular, no LINCCNTL file) to be accessed.
If you do have a standby application configured on the secondary host, enter S.
Application Name
Enter the name of your application. If you entered Y in the Retain Existing Database property, you must use the existing application name.
Database Name
Enter the name of your Runtime database. If you entered Y in the Retain Existing Database property, you must use the existing Runtime database name.
Configure as Usercode / Password
Enter the usercode and password under which your configured database and system programs are to run. All database files, programs, and all tailored DMS II software run under this usercode.
The defaults are the usercode and password under which your Configure Utility is running.
About Usercodes
It is your responsibility to ensure that standard usercode and family file visibility and substitution rules are not violated. To achieve this, ensure that the correct usercode and family attributes are entered. It is recommended that you do not locate applications under an asterisk (*) usercode.
Your Configure WFL is initiated under the usercode and password of your SMU.
If you are configuring an optional standby application to support a secondary database, it must be configured under the same usercode as the primary application.
If the 'Reorgnisation Type' segment configuration property for the target configuration is REORGDB, the usercode under which the configure job runs must be the same as the usercode of the target database. If you set a generate family for a configure or generate using REORGDB then either the primary or alternate pack should be the dictionary pack.
During a database reorganization, old description files are saved to the usercode under which the DASDL compile is running. If the old description files need to be saved to the same usercode as the target system, you must configure the program with the same usercode as the target system. Refer to Restrictions on Configure.
Accesscode / Password
Enter the accesscode for your System usercode if required.
Chargecode
Enter the chargecode for your System usercode if required.
Window
Enter the window name to be defined to COMS for your application. (This is the window name that users of your application sign on to.) This name is also used as the COMS DATABASE name.
Language
Enter the language that you want to be used with the application being configured. By default, it is ENGLISH.
Configure Job
Enter the WFL job that is included on the tape to carry out all the tasks for your actual configuration. This property is preset to the following value:
NGEN28/WFL/CONF
Once you have transmitted your completed parameter screens, the file you name is copied from your Transfer tape by the SMU, and the WFL job is started.
Media Type
Enter the type of media, either TAPE or DISK, which contains the files to be copied.
Configure Tape
Enter the name of the Transfer tape (or pack name if the transfer is from a pack) that contains all the files that are to be copied.
