By using System Transfer you can transfer an application from one location to another. It is usual that this transfer is across hosts, but it is not uncommon to transfer an application to another location on the same host.
Support of source file transfer has been discontinued. Object transfers are the only option now.
You use the SMU to configure your transferred application on your target host. You can remove the need to manually run this utility, by specifying your configuration parameters in a Configure Configuration.
System Transfer enables you to perform your transfer by using a variety of media: tape, pack/disk, or BNA. With BNA transfers, you have the option of choosing automatic initiation of the SMU, so that you can control the transfer from the source host.
If you are using the DMS Remote Database (RDB) feature, you can use System Transfer to maintain an optional standby application on a secondary host for back up and disaster recovery.
