Station names can contain up to 251 characters: 14 levels of 17 characters, separated by slash characters (/).
Internally, Agile Business Suite Software uses 17 characters to hold station names:
If a full station name is 17 characters or less, Agile Business Suite Software uses this name (padded with trailing spaces to 17 characters).
If the full station name is greater than 17 characters, Agile Business Suite Software uses a reference station name in place of the full station name.
Printer names for Report outputs are still restricted to 17 characters.

A reference station name is either:

Created automatically, by concatenating the values in the following table:

Reference Station Library
Reference station names are stored in an alias file that is maintained by the reference station library. This library is implemented within NGEN28/1/LIBRARY. This means that all applications on a host use the same set of station names.
You can access the library by using an SL function name. Refer to Maintaining Reference Station Names.
As part of the installation of Runtime for ClearPath MCP, you specify the location of the alias file, and whether a duplicate copy of the file is to be maintained automatically for you.
If you are using RDB, you should consider defining all of your reference station names rather than using the automatic names. This ensures that the same station names are used on each host.
