Recommendations for the Generate WFL

The settings required to gain the best performance depend on a considerable number of factors, many of which are not controlled or influenced by Builder. For example, the amount of memory available, the number of processors, and the amount of other work currently being processed are all factors outside the influence of Builder, but each of these might affect the optimum number of parallel build processes.

Therefore, when applying these recommendations, you should start with the recommended figure and modify it in relation to your environment and experience to gain your optimal settings.

Note: There is a point where increasing the number of parallel processes will not provide any additional performance improvements; that is, a reduced total elapsed time. In fact, total elapsed time can start to increase as the machine requires greater resources to administer the greater workload, rather than allocating it to the build processes.

Application Generation Recommendations

These recommendations apply only to the Number of Parallel Compiles Segment configuration property present under the Installation category are intended as a guide rather than as definitive values.

Generally, multiple parallel compiles require a larger percentage of machine resources for a shorter elapsed time.

It is recommended that the number of parallel compiles is set to the number of processors available on the machine less by one. For example, if the number of processors on the machine is four, set the number of parallel compiles to three. If the number of processors on the machine is one, set the number of parallel compiles to one.

Report Generate Recommendations

Always build your application before attempting to build any Reports for that application.

Refer to Building Reports in the Agile Business Suite Developer User Guide for more information.

Refer to Controlling Report Generates during Application Builds.
