Batch Mode Reports (RIP)

The Report Initiator Program NGEN28/RIP (RIP) might be used to execute a Report, where output is directed to a line printer or terminal printer.

Note: Video Reports can also be executed under RIP, if your output is redirected to a line printer or terminal printer.

You can initiate RIP from one of the following:

For Reports initiated through RIP, the value BATCH is contained in Glb.InitStn.

RIP requires the LSS program to be running. If an LSS program is not in the mix when RIP is initiated, it waits for one, and the message NO MatchING PORT BATCHLIRC is displayed.

Note: When running RIP, do not set SW2, as this is reserved for internal Agile Business Suite usage.

If the parameters for NGEN28/RIP are incorrect and your Report cannot be initiated, RIP terminates. Also, if a Report initiated by RIP fails, or you terminate it using a :TER Administration command, RIP terminates.

Recovery

If Recovery is invoked, RIP reestablishes its link to your application, and reconnects to the Report it previously initiated. If your Report is not running, (because it had reached End-of-Job at the moment of failure), NGEN28/RIP terminates P-DS. Refer to Backup, Recovery, and Remote Database Facility for more information on Recovery.
