Creating New Transformations

To create a transformation, you must load the intended source and target schemas into DDW. For more information about loading schemas into a DDW Repository, refer to Loading Schemas into a Data Exchange Development Workbench Repository

On the Transformation menu, click New. A new Transformation pane opens that has the following tabs at the bottom:

You can change the default name of the transformation as required. In the Transformation View, select the required transformation and press F2, or right-click the transformation, select Rename, and then enter a new name.

Note: It is recommended that you provide a unique name to each transformation for clear distinction when viewing the transformations together.

DDW uses different colors to indicate classifiers from different schemas. There are 12 different colors that are assigned randomly. If more than one classifier from the same schema is dragged into the ClassifierMap Designer, the classifiers are represented in the same color. If more than 12 schemas are used in one transformation, the colors are reused. The color for a schema applies only to one repository. This means that if the same schema is used in a different repository, the classifiers may be represented by a different color.
