While creating a transformation, you can map a source classifier and a target classifier in the ClassifierMap Designer. Before defining the mapping, it is recommended that you enable change data capture (CDC) at the SQL Server table level. You can also enable the CDC before deploying the transformation. You can verify the CDC status of the SQL Server table in the Properties pane. When you enable CDC for the SQL Server table, the associated capture instances are displayed in the Properties pane.
Note: If the source database was restored, or if any changes were made to the schema, it is recommended to disable CDC and re-enable it.
On the Schema View, expand the SQL Server database.
The SQL Server database schemas appear.
Expand the required SQL Server database schema to view the SQL Server tables.
Select a SQL Server table, and drag it into the ClassifierMap Designer.
On the Schema View, expand the target database schema.
The target classifiers appear.
Select a target classifier, and drag it into the ClassifierMap Designer.
Notes:
You can drag multiple classifiers at a time into the ClassifierMap Designer. Press the Ctrl key, and select the required classifiers.
In case of SQL Server as the source, Data Exchange treats the database as the source, which in turn can have many schemas. Different schemas can have tables with the same name. When tables with the same name are dragged into the ClassifierMap Designer, DDW differentiates the tables by prefixing the schema name to the table name. While defining a transformation in DDW, ensure that you have selected the table from the correct schema.
Click inside the box adjacent to the source classifier, and draw an arrow to connect to the target classifier.
For more information about the color coding of the connection arrows, refer to Interpreting the Color of the Connection Arrows.
On the Transformation menu, click Save.
