Common Errors and Possible Solutions

The common errors and the possible solutions to fix the errors are provided in the following table:

Unable to connect to the DDW Repository

One or more of the following information is missing or incorrect:
  • SQL Server host name

  • SQL Server authentication credentials

  • Name of the DDW Repository

  • A dbcreator role.

Review the values provided in the Open Repository window and update the values as required.

If the name of the DDW Repository is empty, then perform one or more of the following steps:

  • Click Verify Connection to ensure that a connection can be established with the database.

  • Verify the host and the credential information.

  • Ping the host to make sure that the host is online.

  • Replace the host name with the IP address and verify the connection.

  • Ensure that the DDW Repository exists in the SQL Server database.

Note: If the DDW Repository name is selected, and the DDW Repository still cannot not be opened, there might be some error in the DDW Repository or in DDW. In this case, back up your DDW Repository, and then upgrade DDW.

Unable to create a new DDW RepositoryOne or more of the following information is missing or incorrect:
  • SQL Server host name

  • SQL Server authentication credentials

  • Name of the DDW Repository

Review the values provided in the New Repository window and update the values as required.
  • Click the Verify Connection button to ensure that a connection can be established with the database.

  • Verify the host and the credential information.

  • Ping the host to make sure that the host is online.

  • Replace the host name with the IP address, and verify the connection.

Unable to load a SQL Server schema.One or more of the following information is missing or incorrect:
  • SQL Server host name

  • SQL Server authentication credentials

  • Name of the DDW Repository

  • Click the Verify Connection button to ensure that a connection can be established with the database.

  • Verify the host and the credential information.

  • Ping the host to make sure that the host is online.

  • Replace the host name with the IP address, and verify the connection.

Unable to load the Enterprise Database Server schema.One or more of the following information is missing or incorrect:
  • MCP host name and the port number where the Enterprise Database Server is running

  • Enterprise Database Server name and password.

Review the values provided in the Load Database into Repository window and update the values as required.

Unable to save the schema in the DDW repository.

The repository log file does not have enough space to save a large schema.

Increase the maximum size of the repository log file, or set the size to unlimited.

Deployment of the transformation file is failed.One or more of the following information is missing or incorrect:
  • The host name or the IP address where the Administrative Service is running

  • Port number

Do one or more of the following:

  • Ensure that the IP address/host name and the port number of the machine where the Administrative Service is installed are correct.

  • Ping the host to ensure that the host is reachable.

  • Make sure that the Administrative Service is up and running.

The version of DDW does not match the version of the Administration Site.Upgrade the version of the relevant component so that the version matches.
