Appendix A. Controlling Access to DEMS and Administration Site

You can control access to the Administration Site and Data Exchange Management Studio (DEMS) by configuring Windows Authentication as follows:

Note: Ensure that Windows Authentication is installed.

  1. Open Internet Information Service (IIS) Manager and expand the navigation tree in the left pane.

  2. To grant access to the Administration Site,

    1. Right-click DataExchangeAdminSite<version_number> in the navigation tree and click EditPermission.

      AdministrationSite Properties window appears.

    2. Click Security tab.

    3. Select the group or user name for which you want to grant permissions, and click Edit.

    4. Provide permissions to Read and execute, List folder contents, and Read.

    5. Open Local Security Policy. Check which user group has the rights to access the server from the network.

    6. Ensure that the users that you want to grant access rights to the Administration Site are in one of these groups. For example, Administrators.

    7. Open the Administration Site. The browser prompts you to login. Enter the user credentials of the user for which you have granted permission in the IIS server. The Administration Site opens only if the authentication is successful.

    8. You can automatically login the next time with the current user name and password by selecting this option in the Internet Options>Security Settings>User Authentication.

    To grant access to DEMS, select DataExchangeManagementStudio and perform the tasks mentioned in steps 5a to 5h.
