Data Exchange Management Studio (DEMS): DEMS is a web based application that serves as a management center to define a virtual concept for a physical Data Exchange environment, and associate users to that environment. These users can install different components of Data Exchange based on the privileges assigned to them. DEMS also enables you to establish secured connections between the Windows components of Data Exchange.

Data Exchange Development Workbench (DDW): DDW is a Windows desktop application that enables you to define transformations by mapping classifiers and features from the loaded source and target schema definitions. It also enables you to deploy the transformations to the Runtime Service to perform the actual transformation between the transformation source and transformation target.

Data Exchange Runtime Administration (Runtime Administration): This is a web based application that includes the Administrative Service and the Administration Site. The Administrative Service is the centralized controller of the Data Exchange Runtime environment. It monitors and controls Runtime components. The Administration Site is used for managing and monitoring the running of transformations.

Data Exchange Runtime Service (Runtime Service): The Runtime Service processes the data that is retrieved from the transformation source and posts it to the transformation target.

Database host component: The database host component is installed on the respective database host. This component interacts with either the source or the target data store. The component is different depending on the type of database host involved in a transformation.
