Installing Data Exchange OS 2200 Agent

The OS 2200 Agent must be installed on the OS 2200 host through a software package tape. The installation package contains the DVD formatted image file and a readme file with instructions to create a tape on the host. You can register and install the product only after you have registered the key tape that you received. Use the SOLAR Utility to register the key tape, and then register and install the OS 2200 Agent.

Note: Ensure that all the prerequisite software are installed. Refer to Sections Supported Data Stores and Supported Operating Systems and Prerequisite Software.

Installing the OS 2200 Agent comprises three main steps.

  1. Copying the OS 2200 Agent setup file.

  2. Creating a tape.

  3. Registering the key tape, the product tape, and installing the OS 2200 Agent.

To install the OS 2200 Agent

  1. Copy the OS 2200 Agent Setup File.

    Refer to Section Copying OS 2200 Agent Setup Filesfor instructions on copying the OS 2200 Agent setup files.

  2. Create a tape

    Perform the following steps to create a tape from the DVD formatted image file (.2200tp):

    1. Extract the contents of the copied zip file into a directory on your Windows workstation. The zip file contains the keyed DVD formatted image file (.2200tp) and the readme file.

    2. Catalog a file on the OS 2200 system to hold the DVD formatted image file:

      @CAT, P QQQ*FFF.,f2///262000
    3. Transfer the DVD formatted image file from your Windows workstation to the OS 2200 file QQQ*FFF.

      Use the following format in the Windows Command Interface to transfer:

      From the Start menu, choose Run.
      Type ftp and click OK.
      ftp>open 2200-system-name (or IP address)
      user: 2200-user-id
      password: 2200-password
      ftp>bin
      ftp>quote site cfmt
      ftp>PUT c:\DEvvvvv.2200TP QQQ*FFF.
      ftp>quit

      Note: The OS 2200 file QQQ*FFF. cannot have an extension.

    4. Assign a tape that receives the DVD formatted image file:

      @ASG,options TAPE.,MNEMONIC,REEL,,RING

      where options = TJ for unlabeled or TF for labeled

      For example

      @ASG,TJ MYTAPE.,T,T40969,,RING
    5. Copy the OS 2200 file QQQ*FFF. to the tape using the DCOPY tool.

      @DCOPY QQQ*FFF.,TAPE.

      For example —

      @DCOPY QQQ*FFF.,MYTAPE.
      • TAPE is an unlabeled or labeled tape file name, not reel number.

      • QQQ*FFF. is a normal sector addressable mass storage file.

      Note: DCOPY automatically uses parameter 1 as the input and creates parameter 2 for the output.

  3. Register the key tape, the product tape, and install the OS 2200 Agent.

    Refer to the ClearPath OS 2200 Software Products Installation Guide > Section 2, “Preparing to Install Products with SOLAR > Registering the Key Tape” and Section 3, “Installing Software Products with SOLAR> Installation Procedure” for detailed information about registering the license key tape and product tape followed by the product installation using the SOLAR utility.

Complete any additional post product installation steps, such as adjusting the CONFIG$ and DEFAULT/PROFILE elements and run stream elements that may be required.
