Overview of Data Exchange Management Studio

Data Exchange Management Studio is an independent component of Data Exchange. It is a management center used to define user access to different Data Exchange applications, such as Development Workbench (DDW), Administration Site, and installation of Data Exchange Windows components.

DEMS allows you to define a virtual environment for a physical Data Exchange environment and associate users to that environment. Defining environments enables you to associate a single user to multiple environments having the same or different roles in each environment.

A single instance of DEMS can manage all the environments or you can physically isolate environments by installing one instance of DEMS per environment.

DEMS can also work with multiple versions of Data Exchange components and is backward compatible. For example, DEMS 5.0.19 can work with DDW 5.0.19, 5.0.18, ... but not with 5.0.20.

In DEMS, you can also enable secure connections between the different Windows components of Data Exchange.
