When a COBOL data description is captured, one or more fields are optionally selected to create a unique data identifier. If the data identifier was not selected, or was inappropriately selected, the COBOL data identifier or identifiers can be added or changed using the COBOL Record Editor.
Before changing the current data identifier, refer to the Planning the Data Identification Strategy topic in Preparing to Use the OS 2200 Open DTP Data Source Wizardsfor information about COBOL data identification fields.
To change a COBOL data identifier:
In Solution Explorer, expand the <ClearPath ePortal data source project> node, point to Server Messages, and double-click the appropriate <server message name>.cobxml file.
In the <server message name>.cobxml tab, select the field that no longer should be a server message identifier, right-click, and click Remove COBOL Data Identifier. The COBOL Data Identifier icon is removed from the field.
Select the field to be designated as a data identifier, right-click, and click Add COBOL Data Identifier. The COBOL Data Identifier icon is added to the field.
