Creating Web Forms Mobile Application Projects

Increasingly, users depend on smart mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, to access enterprise applications while on the go. You can use ePortal to generate presentation projects from your data source project, which are tailored to smart mobile devices.

Alternatively, you may wish to create an ePortal Web Forms Mobile presentation project, which is not associated with any ePortal data source project. This is referred to as a standalone Web Forms Mobile presentation project. In this case, ePortal does not generate your web pages. Instead, you manually add pages to your project using ePortal project item templates (refer to Project Item Templates for Web Forms Mobile Presentation Projects), and then you manually add ePortal mobile controls to your web pages (refer to ePortal Developer Controls for Web Forms Mobile Projects).

A Web Forms Mobile Application Project uses Web Forms and is specifically designed for use with mobile devices. Refer to Choosing Web Forms or MVC for more information on Web Forms. Alternatively, consult the following topics:

iPhone Application Design Principles

Apple® has published a number of guidelines to help iPhone developers create effective applications. For example, an iPhone application should be simple to use, with a dedicated purpose. Usually, a large Web application should be broken into multiple smaller iPhone applications.

For more information, refer to the topic iOS Human Interface Guidelines for Web Applications on the Apple developer website. These guidelines also apply to Web applications running on other smartphone and tablet platforms.
