Performing Force Dump on a Partition Image

Force dump is an automatic dump of the operating system, unorderly shutdown, and reset of the partition image. Use the force dump option to get operating system dependent diagnostic dump.

Note: Linux kernel crash dumps (kdumps) may not function on some Linux operating systems, for example, the partition may appear to generate a dump file but no dump files are found in /var/crash. Kdumps are not required for Unisys support, and you do not need to generate a kdump when collecting materials for Unisys support purposes. If the partition hangs and does not respond after you use the Fabric Manager user interface to initiate a force dump, use the Fabric Manager user interface to restart the partition.

To perform a force dump

  1. On the Fabric Manager user interface, point to System Administration, and then click CPF System.

  2. Click Platforms and Partitions.

The Details: Platforms and Partitions screen appears.

  3. Click Partitions tab.

The list of partition images appears.

  4. Double-click the partition image you want to force dump.

The Summary tab displays the information about the selected partition image.

  5. Point to Advanced and click Force Dump.

The status of the partition image returns to the initial state.

Note: The Advanced tab is present only if the partition is running.
