Resizing Partition Images

Using the Fabric Manager, you can resize partition images in the following situations:

Note: Note:You might encounter Secure Fabric BDF conflicts after resizing the partition image.

To resize a partition image

  1. On the Fabric Manager user interface, point to System Administration, and then click CPF System.

  2. Click Platforms and Partitions.

    The Details: Platforms and Partitions screen appears on the right pane.

  3. Expand the desired platform, and then click the partition image to resize and edit the attributes.

  4. In the Details pane, click Edit.

    Alternatively, click the arrow next to the partition image and click Edit.

    The Edit Partition Image window appears.

  5. In the Partition Attributes tab, based on the partition image state, you can edit following fields:

    • If the partition image is in running state, you can edit Partition Name, Partition Description, and Initial state on platform reboot fields.

    • If the partition image is in stopped state, you can edit Partition Name, Partition Description, Cores, Memory, Enable Hyper Threading, and Initial state on platform reboot fields

  6. Click Next.

  7. In the Cores & Memory tab, you can edit the Chassis, Cores and Memory fields.

  8. In the I/O Port Details tab, you can do the following:

    • Assign/ Disable/Release the Dedicated NIC ports.

    • Assign/Disable/Release logical ports.

    • Enable or disable NIC Teaming on logical ports.

    • Enable or disable Peer Forwarding on logical ports.

    • Assign/Disable/Release the HBA ports.

  9. In the Secure Fabric tab, you can do the following:

    • You can select new secure fabrics to associate with the partition image, or clear the previous selection of secure fabrics to disassociate them from the partition image.

    • (Optional) You can enable the FM-LAN by selecting the FM-LAN check box. Once enabled, the health of the partition changes to Ok, Warning or Unknown.

      If you have already enabled the FM-LAN, you can disable it by clearing the FM-LAN check box and the health of the partition changes to Monitoring Disabled (FM-LAN Disabled).

       Caution

      Before you enable the FM-LAN option, it is important that you understand the security risks associated with the use of the FM LAN. It is possible for an FM LAN Ethernet switch monitored by the Fabric Manager to have an access vulnerability. For more information on the security risks associated with the FM LAN, see Enabling and Disabling the FM LAN.

  10. In the Storage tab, you can change the previous selections of Data LUNs.

  11. Click Save.

    The selected partition image is resized and turns to Stopped state. You can verify if the resized partition image is operational by starting it.

    Notes:

    • Do not perform any other action on the platform till the partition image reaches Stopped state.

    • Events for initiation and completion are logged and displayed in the event console.
