Systems that Are Not Part of the Fabric

A system that is not part of a ClearPath Forward fabric—that is, a computer that is external to the fabric and is not set up as an enterprise partition platform—cannot be added to the ClearPath Forward fabric and cannot be managed by the Fabric Manager.

However, such a system is accessible from enterprise partition platforms in the fabric. In order for this to be the case, the external system must be connected to the enterprise partition platforms using an Ethernet connection and the enterprise partition platform’s NIC ports. The following figure shows one example of how this can be done. In this case, the external system has been included on the same customer corporate LAN to which the fabric is connected.
