Disabling a partition image is the process by which the s-Par® association of the partition image (LUN) along with the partition chassis (processor cores, memory and I/O ports) is removed from the fabric. Once a partition is decommissioned, it is released and the partition chassis is available for use by another partition image. Disable a partition image when you want to make its resources available to other partition images but do not want to permanently delete the partition image.
To disable a partition image
On the Fabric Manager user interface, point to System Administration, and then click CPF System.
Click Platforms and Partitions.
The Details: Platforms and Partitions screen appears.
Click Partitions tab.
The list of partition images appears.
Double-click the partition image that you want to disable.
The Details: <partition name> screen appears.
On the Summary tab, click Disable.
A confirmation message appears.
Click Yes to confirm.
The status of the partition image changes to first Stopped, then to Inactive, and finally to Disabled. The partition image no longer appears in the display.
Notes:
Events for initiation and completion are logged and displayed in the event console.
The Fabric Manager monitors the health status of a partition image through ping checks. If a partition image is in Stopped or Disabled state, the Fabric Manager cannot verify the pings from that partition image and displays the Partition Health status as Warning or Critical. No corresponding event is generated for this.
