When you attempt to add a platform using the Add option on the Summary tab, the Fabric Manager does not add the platform to the fabric. The error message “Unable to add the platform” appears.

  • Power cord is not connected to the platform.

  • FM LAN switch is not connected to the platform.

  • Default IP address of the platform is not properly configured.

  • Manually verify if the platform is connected to the AC power.

  • Manually verify if the platform is connected to the FM LAN switch.

  • Verify if the platform's default IP address is correctly configured. If you do not have the IP address details, contact the Unisys service representative.

  • Platform settings and configurations such as BIOS settings should be verified. Contact the Unisys service representative for modifying the settings.

Network settings are not configured in the platform management console.

In the platform management console

  1. Verify if the IPMI connections are enabled.

  2. Verify if the forwardfm user has been created.

  3. Verify if the processor frequency, core count, and memory are supported by the Fabric Management Platform.

Note: Only field engineer has the privilege to log in to the platform management console.

s-Par® IP address is not properly configured.

If the platform is a PEPP, power on the platform using the Platform Management Console. After few minutes, ping the default s-Par® IP address. If the ping is successful, you can add the platform.

If the ping is not successful, contact the Unisys service representative and report the problem.

When you attempt to add a platform using the Add option on the Summary tab, the Fabric Manager does not add the platform to the fabric. The error message “NTP Settings failed” appears.

  • When you attempt to add a platform using the Add option on the Summary tab, the Fabric Manager does not add the platform to the fabric. The following error message appears:

Unable to configure the Platform Management Card FM LAN IP Address

  • Fabric Manager fails to roll back to the platform management card’s previous default IP address. The following error message appears:

FFM fails to roll back to the PMC and s-Par (PEPP) previous default IP addresses.

Network connectivity issues or IPMI setting issues.

  1. Identify and correct the networking or IPMI condition that is causing the problem.

  2. Reset the platform to its default IP addresses.

For PEPP, ensure that the BIOS, PMC, and s-Par Instance (that are applicable to the PEPP) settings are set back to the original default values.

For NEPP, ensure that PMC IP address is set to the original default value.

Note: It is recommended to perform this step under the supervision of Unisys Service Representative.

  3. Delete the platform details from the database using the script deleteDeviceByName.sh. You can find this script in the FMP folder /user/local/ffm/scripts/. To delete the platform details,

    1. Log in to the FMP using root credentials.

    2. Open a terminal session and run the following commands:

      cd /usr/local/ffm/scripts/
      ./deleteDeviceByName.sh
  4. Enter platform name to be deleted.

In the Fabric Manager user interface, verify if the platform has been deleted.
