Editing a Partition Image

Depending on your role, you can edit the partition image attributes and associated resources. For example, you can edit the name, description, and number of associated cores and ports. It is recommended to back up the configuration settings before editing the partition image attributes.

Note: You cannot edit the attributes if the status of the partition image is Unknown or Disabled.

  1. On the Fabric Manager user interface, point to System Administration, and then click CPF System.

  2. Click Platforms and Partitions.

    The Details: Platforms and Partitions screen appears on the right pane.

  3. Select the Partitions tab and then select the partition image that you want to edit.

  4. Click Edit.

    Alternatively, double-click the partition image row, and then on the Summary tab of the partition image, click Edit.

    The Edit Partition Image window appears.

  5. In the Partition Attributes tab, based on the partition image state, you can edit following fields:

    • If the partition image is in running state, you can edit Partition Name, Partition Description, and Initial state on platform reboot fields.

    • If the partition image is in stopped state, you can edit Partition Name, Partition Description, and Initial state on platform reboot fields.

  6. In the Cores & Memory tab, you can edit the Chassis, Cores, and Memory fields. You can also enable or disable the hyper threading.

    You can use the Resource Combinations Preview option for previewing the diffierent chassis combinations that are available.

  7. Click Next.

  8. In the I/O Port Details tab, you can do the following:

    • Assign/Disable/Release the dedicated NIC ports.

    • Assign/Disable/Release logical ports and enable or disable NIC Teaming and /or enable or disable Peer Forwarding.

    • Assign/Disable/Release the HBA ports.

    Notes:

    • If you are assigning HBA ports to a Windows partition that did not previously have HBA ports, be sure to download the Emulex Windows OneCommand Manager application for your fibre channel HBA from the Unisys Product Support Web site, and install it on the partition. For more information on the application, refer to any available comments, read-me files, or installation instructions on the download page.

    • Events for initiation and completion are logged and displayed in the event console.

    • To release an already assigned port and make available to the resource pool. click on the required port and then in the Port Settings window, select the Release option. The selected port icon changes to .

    • You can also release an already assigned logical port and make available to the to the resource pool. To do this, in the Logical Ports window, click on the required port and then in the Port Settings window, select the Release option. The selected port icon changes to .

    • You can also release an assigned port and release it to the resource pool. To do this, click on the required port and then in the Port Settings Window, click Release.

  9. In the Secure Fabric tab, you can do the following:

    • You can select new secure fabrics to associate with the partition image, or clear the previous selection of secure fabrics to disassociate them from the partition image.

    • (Optional) You can enable the FM-LAN by selecting the FM-LAN check box. Once enabled, the health of the partition changes to Ok, Warning or Unknown.

      If you have already enabled the FM-LAN, you can disable it by clearing the FM-LAN check box and the health of the partition changes to Monitoring Disabled (FM-LAN Disabled).

       Caution

      Before you enable the FM-LAN option, it is important that you understand the security risks associated with the use of the FM LAN. It is possible for an FM LAN Ethernet switch monitored by the Fabric Manager to have an access vulnerability. For more information on the security risks associated with the FM LAN, see Enabling and Disabling the FM LAN.

  10. In the Storage tab, you can change the previous selections of Data LUNs.

  11. Click Save.

    The modifications are saved and displayed in the partition image Summary tab.
