Fabric Manager receives severity values for events from different applications on which the event is generated. The status displayed for an event depends on the application that reported the event. Events are further categorized based on the applications that report them. The application shares with Fabric Manager, the severity of the event that it reports. The severity value may be expressed differently by applications. Fabric Manager re-expresses this value using a common term, which is displayed in the Status column in the Event Console. For example, Fabric Manager expresses the Status of the event as Critical on receiving severity values like ‘Major’ and ‘Fatal’.
The following are the various categories of events:
Audit: User interactions with the Fabric Manager are logged as audit events.
IPMI SEL (IPMI System Event Log): Events from Platform Management Console are logged as IPMI SEL events.
SPAR: Events generated from s-Par are logged in as SPAR events.
CHCS: Events related to ESR Test Packets (ESRTEST, that is heart beat check packets to Unisys support center, ESRDIAG and ESRRFU packets) sent from the Fabric Manager call home central service component are logged as CHCS events.
NAGIOS: Events related to switches, FM-LAN are generated by NAGIOS and are logged as NAGIOS events. This event type is captured in a log file that is part of the Diagnostic dumps.
