Editing SMTP Settings

 Caution

You should edit the default SMTP settings only during the following scenarios:

  • DNS server is unable to provide a valid MX record.

  • The SMTP server referenced by the DNS MX record requires that the MTAs perform authentication using valid user account and password.

The following table describes the actions that you should perform if you encounter one of the scenarios described in the caution:

Configure the SNMP server’s IP address and credentials by editing the SMTP settings in the Fabric Manager.

You can edit SMTP settings for Call Home email notifications.

To edit SMTP Settings

  1. On the Fabric Manager user interface, click Advanced Settings.

  2. Select the Notifications tab and then select the SMTP Settings tab.

  3. Click Edit.

    The Edit SMTP Settings dialog box appears. You can make changes to the following fields:

    • From Email ID: The email id from where the notifications are sent.

      Note: The email ID is of the form <username>@<domainname>. The username can contain alphanumeric characters and the special characters “.”, “_” and “-”. The domain name can be the IP address or companyname followed by .two or three alphanumeric characters. For example, xyz_378@yourcompany.com.

    • Under SMTP Server

      • Server IP Address: The IP address of the SMTP server

      • Port No: The port number

      • User Name: The username to access the server

      • Password: The password to access the server

  4. Click Save.
