The ease of access to the installation site has a considerable effect on delivery time and expense. Both access for the equipment and access for the installation personnel should be considered. The following factors should be considered when choosing a location, and especially when planning new construction:
Doors — number and size
Single doors must be at least 116.38 cm (45.82 in.) wide and 219.99 cm (86.61 in.) high. Double doors 219.99 cm (86.61 in.) high that open to 232.77 cm (91.64 in.) wide are preferred. When assessing access clearances, remember that cabinets boxed for shipment are 217.45 cm (85.61 in.) high.
Hallways — size and number of turns
Hallways must be at least 152.4 cm (60 in.) wide and 219.99 cm (86.61 in.) high.
Elevators — size, weight limitations, and hours available
Elevators must have a load rating of at least 1134 kg (2,500 lb.).
Elevator dimensions must be at least 219.99 cm (86.61 in.) high, 116.38 cm (45.82 in.) wide, and 139.14 cm (54.78 in.) long.
The elevator door must open to at least 116.38 cm (45.82 in.) wide by 219.99 cm (86.61 in.) high.
Floors — type of covering and load-bearing capacity
Ramps — location and slope
Loading dock — height limitations, distance to the computer area, and hours available
