Unable to Shut Down a RHEL 7.1 Partition Image

Symptoms

Unable to shut down the partition image.

The Fabric Manager user interface shows the partition image as hang in the stopping state.

Cause

If the partition desktop is locked due to inactivity, or if no user is logged to the partition desktop, the Fabric Manager cannot shut down the partition image due to a known RHEL 7.1 bug (Red Hat Bugzilla Bug 980692).

Solutions

Before using the Fabric Manager user interface to shut down the partition, ensure a user is logged into the partition operating system and the partition desktop is not locked.
Log into the partition image and use the operating system to issue the shutdown.
