MCP Threshold Properties

There are several MCP system utilization parameters that you can monitor and specify threshold conditions for. Utilization data messages are continuously sent from the MCP system to the Operations Sentinel server at 20-second intervals. You can change the length of this interval, as described in Operations Sentinel Interface for ClearPath MCP Installation and Configuration Guide. Any parameter that satisfies the threshold condition you specify for it causes Operations Sentinel to raise an alert.

The first table below describes the properties that appear for each threshold on the Thresholds tab in the details pane for the MCP system. The second table describes the MCP parameters shown in the details pane and gives a description of the condition that causes an alert to be raised. Use these tables to help you interpret and enter data in the details pane.

MCP Properties on the Thresholds Tab

Property	Definition
Alert ID	Displays the alert identifier of the alert raised when the threshold condition has been satisfied. This property is read-only.
Enabled	Specifies whether the threshold is activated. Use the arrow () in the Enabled property to select either True (default) The threshold is activated and an alert is raised if the filter condition specified for the Filter property is satisfied. False The threshold is not activated. An alert is not raised even if the filter condition specified for the Filter property is satisfied.
Condition	Specifies the threshold condition for the MCP parameter, if any. Click the ellipsis () in the Filter property to specify the threshold condition. Whenever the parameter satisfies the threshold condition, Operations Sentinel raises an alert for the system. See Specifying a Threshold Condition for additional help creating a threshold condition.

The following table describes the MCP parameters for which you can specify a threshold condition.

Memory Overlay	_AMemoryOverlay	Raises an alert if the memory that can be overlaid (written to disk and then made available) satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled .

Process Initial Pbits	_AInitPbitPcent	Raises an alert if the percentage of processor time spent making arrays and code initially available satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled.
Process IO Finish	_AIOFinishPcent	Raises an alert if the percentage of processor time spent handling I/O completions satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled.
Process MCP	_AMCPPcent	Raises an alert if the percentage of processor time charged to the combination of the MCPSTACK, PROCESSSWITCH, and LISTEN accounts satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled.
Process Pbit	_AOtherPbitPcent	Raises an alert if the percentage of processor time spent making arrays and code present again after they were overlaid and time spent overlaying existing data to make room for new data satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled .
Process Search	_ASearchPcent	Raises an alert if the percentage of processor time charged to the combination of the SEARCHLEAD and SEARCHFOLLOW accounts satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled.
Process True Idle	_ATrueIdlePcent	Raises an alert if the percentage of processor time spent idle that is not considered to be false idle satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled .
Process User	_AUserPcent	Raises an alert if the percentage of processor time spent in user stacks satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled.
Waiting Count	_AWaitingEntries	Raises an alert if the total number of RSVP/waiting messages that are currently outstanding satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled.
