There are several OS 2200 system parameters that you can monitor and specify threshold conditions for. These parameters are from the continuous display of OS 2200 consoles. Any parameter that satisfies the threshold condition you specify for it causes Operations Sentinel to raise an alert.
The first table below describes the properties that appear for each threshold on the Thresholds tab in the details pane for the OS 2200 system. The second table describes the OS 2200 parameters shown in the details pane and gives a description of the condition that causes an alert to be raised. Use these tables to help you interpret and enter data in the details pane.
For additional help in setting threshold conditions, see Specifying a Threshold Condition.

Condition | Specifies the threshold
condition for the OS 2200 parameter, if any. Click the ellipsis ( |
OS 2200 Parameters on the Thresholds Tab
The following table describes the OS 2200 parameters for which you can specify a threshold condition.
Parameter | Alert Identifiers | Description |
Active Transactions | _OSActiveTxn | Raises an alert if the number of active transactions satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled. Stuck programs are not included in this count. |
Backlog | _OSBacklog | Raises an alert if the number of unopened runs satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled . |
Batch IP | _OSBatchIP | Raises an alert if the percentage of IP SUPs being used by user programs using batch and deadline batch processing satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled . |
Batch Open | _OSBatchOpen | Raises an alert if the number of open batch runs satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled. |
Demand IP | _OSDemandIP | Raises an alert if the percentage of IP SUPs being used by user programs using demand processing satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled. |
Demand Open | _OSDemandOpen | Raises an alert if the number of open demand runs satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled. |
E11 | _OSExpoolAlarm | Raises an alert if the number of available 512-word (E11 size) EXPOOL buffers satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled. |
EXPOOL Available | _OSExpoolAlarm | Raises an alert if the number of words of EXPOOL available on the system satisfies the threshold filter threshold conditions and the threshold is enabled. The number of words you specify is in thousands. For example, specify 50 if the desired value is 50,000 words. |
EXPOOL Percentage | _OSExpoolAlarm | Raises an alert if the percentage of EXPOOL available on the system satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled. |
Holds | _OSHolds | Raises an alert when the hold(s) you specify occur. This parameter is the collective of the individual holds. Set the threshold filter threshold condition to the desired value(s). You can choose one or more of the available holds: A, D, E, I, L, M, O, R, and T. Enable the threshold to raise an alert whenever one or more of the specified holds occur. Note that the identifier of the alert that is raise is _OSHolds, which is different from the identifiers of the alerts that are raised if you specify threshold conditions for the individual hold conditions instead. |
A Hold | _OSAHold | All batch runs in backlog are held. This hold is caused by either a CS H key-in or a shortage of mass storage on the system. Specify True in the Condition property and enable the threshold to raise an alert whenever batch runs are held. |
D Hold | _OSDHold | At least one demand run on the system is held. This hold is caused by a CS HD keyin. Specify True in the Condition property and enable a threshold to raise an alert whenever a demand run is held. |
E Hold | _OSExpoolHold | The system has an EXPOOL hold. This hold occurs when there is insufficient EXPOOL space available on the system to open additional runs. Specify True in the Condition property and enable the threshold to raise an alert whenever EXPOOL space is low. |
I Hold | _OSIHold | At least one run on the system is suspended. This hold s caused by an SP run-id keyin. Specify True in the Condition property and enable the threshold to raise an alert whenever a run is suspended. |
L Hold | _OSLHold | At least one demand terminal on the system is being held due to a CS HT keyin. Specify True in the Condition property and enable the threshold to raise an alert whenever a demand terminal is held. |
M Hold | _OSMSHold | The system has a mass storage hold. This hold means that mass storage facilities or cataloged files are not available. Specify True in the Condition property and enable the threshold to raise an alert whenever a mass storage hold occurs. |
O Hold | _OSMessageHold | The system has an outstanding read-and-reply message for a local or remote console. Specify True in the Condition property and enable the threshold to raise an alert whenever a read-and-reply message occurs. |
R Hold | _OSRHold | At least one run on the system is held. This hold is caused by a CS H run-id keyin. Specify True in the Condition property and enable the threshold to raise an alert whenever a run is held. |
T Hold | _OSTapeHold | The system has a tape hold (T hold). This hold means that tape or other peripheral facilities are not available. This includes tape units, removable disk units, reel-ids, ACS queries, and facilities other than mass storage space and cataloged mass storage files. Specify True in the Condition property and enable the threshold to raise an alert whenever a tape hold occurs. |
Idle | _OSIdle | The system has been idle for at least the last 6 seconds. Specify True in the Condition property and enable the threshold to raise an alert whenever the system is idle for at least 6 seconds. |
KMS Available | _OSMSAvailable | Raises an alert if the number of tracks of mass storage available in the local directory satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled. The value you set is in thousands. For example, enter 10000 for 10,000,000 tracks. |
KW Mem Available | _OSMemoryAvail | Raises an alert if the number of words of memory available (in millions) satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled. The value you set is in millions. For example, enter 50 for 50,000,000 words. |
Mem Swapfile % | _OSMemSwapfile | Raises an alert if this value satisfies the threshold condition specified by the Operations Sentinel administrator. |
Page IO | _OSPageIOs | Raises an alert if the number of page I/Os per minute satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled. |
Physical Mem % | _OSPhysicalMem | Raises an alert if this value satisfies the threshold condition specified by the Operations Sentinel administrator. |
Queued Transactions | _OSQueuedTxns | Raises an alert if the number of queued transactions satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled. |
Realtime IP | _OSRealTimeIP | Raises an alert if the percentage of IP SUPs being used by user programs using real-time processing satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled. |
TIP IP | _OSTipIP | Raises an alert if the percentage of IP SUPs being used by user programs using TIP satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled. |
Transaction Rate | _OSTxnRate | Raises an alert if the rate of transactions satisfies the threshold filter threshold condition and the threshold is enabled. |
