The first step when classifying objects is to create a new managed group.
To add a new managed group or subgroup
In the navigation pane, select the Managed Groups node. Decide if you want to add a top-level managed group or a subgroup of an existing managed group.
Select either the top-level managed group or the subgroup of an existing group and click New on the File menu.
You can view the properties for the new group under the Properties tab in the details pane.
The new group is given a generic name. Specify a different name of your choice in the Name property. Use a unique name that clearly identifies the managed group. For example, if you plan on using the managed group to create a zone that will be used during the weekends, Weekend Group might be a good name. A group name cannot be duplicated within the same level in the navigation pane, but can be the same if it is under a different parent group.
Save your changes.
The new group initially contains no managed objects since no filter conditions have been specified. You can click the Members tab in the details pane to see this.
After you add a new group, the next step is to specify its Object Filter property to control which managed objects are included in the group.
Tip: Instead of creating a new managed group, you have the option of copying an existing one and editing its properties to fit the needs of the new one. When you copy a managed group, its subgroups are also copied. Using an existing group to create a new one could save you time by eliminating the need to reenter similar data.
Note: If you are copying managed groups and zones from one Operations Sentinel server to another, you should copy the managed groups first. It is recommended that you keep the collection of managed groups on related Operations Sentinel servers identical.
