You control the managed objects that you want included in a managed group using the Object Filter property. The Object Filter property allows you to include managed objects in the group by applying filter conditions. Every managed object that matches at least one filter condition in the Object Filter belongs to the managed group (providing that the managed object also passes the Object Filters of the managed group's ancestors).
A new managed group by default has no filter conditions; the Object Filter property value displays < None>. This means that all objects in the parent managed group are included in the managed subgroup (no objects are excluded by the filter). In contrast, when a managed group has one or more filter conditions but all of them are disabled, the Object Filter property value appears blank. This means that no managed objects are included in the managed group.
To define the Object Filter property
In the navigation pane, select the Managed Groups node and then select the desired managed group or subgroup in the display pane.
In the details pane, click the ellipsis () in the Object Filter property.
The Object Filter Editor appears.
In the Object Filter Editor, you can create, duplicate, edit, delete, enable, and disable filter conditions:
To add a new filter condition, click New. See Specifying a Filter Condition for further help on adding a new filter condition.
To duplicate an existing filter condition, click the desired filter condition to select it and then click Duplicate. See Specifying a Filter Condition for further help on editing a filter condition.
To edit an existing filter condition, click the desired filter condition to select it and then click Edit. See Specifying a Filter Condition for further help on editing a filter condition.
To delete an existing filter condition, click the desired filter condition to select it and then click Delete.
To enable or disable a filter condition, select the check box next to the desired filter condition. A check mark means the filter condition is enabled.
Save your changes.
