Terminal sessions enable a user of Operations Sentinel Console to open a terminal window into a managed system. Terminal emulation is provided through INFOConnect or TELNET. The default is INFOConnect for OS 2200 and MCP systems, and TELNET for all others. A terminal session is also available using Web Enabler.
The following aspects are common to all terminal sessions:
In Operations mode, a terminal session window can be opened from the Applications menu, from a topology that contains an image representing the system associated with the terminal session, or from a table that contains the system associated with the terminal session. It can also be opened by right-clicking certain alerts.
A terminal session window opened from Operations Sentinel Console remains open until you click its Window button and then click Close, or until you terminate Operations Sentinel Console.
Operations Sentinel Console supplies you with example launch definitions for INFOConnect, TELNET, and Web Enabler that you can use as a starting point for creating your own launch definitions to open terminal sessions. Or you can make a copy of the sample launch definitions provided and simply modify them.
See the Operations Sentinel Administration and Configuration Guide for more general information on terminal emulation. See Configuring a Terminal Session for more information on defining a launch definition for a terminal session.
