The summary pane provides two alert icons by default. Each represents different subsets of alerts that Operations Sentinel receives.
Zone Alerts icon (leftmost icon displayed) Represents alerts received for managed objects in the open Operations Sentinel zone or for Operations Sentinel itself.
Other Alerts icon (rightmost icon displayed) Represents alerts received for systems that are not in your open zone. This includes
Alerts from external agents, provided these alerts do not apply to systems in the open zone.
Alerts that have incorrect attributes, such as a wrong system name. For example, if a system name in an alert event report does not match a system name in the open zone, Operations Sentinel Console reports it under the Other Alerts icon.
The alert icons provide a visual cue when conditions on a managed system or connections with a client require attention. You can decide if you want to only display the Zone Alerts icon or both the Zone Alerts and the Other Alerts icons.
Advantages to Displaying Both Alert Icons
The main advantage to using two alert icons is that you can easily distinguish between alerts raised against systems managed under the open zone and all other alerts. If your first priority is to respond to all alerts that are associated with the open zone, the Zone Alerts icon provides a way for you to find these alerts quickly and easily. At a later time, you can respond to the alerts represented by the Other Alerts icon.
In addition, if identifying attributes in an alert event report were incorrectly specified, the alert appears under the Other Alerts icon. This provides an easy way of tracking alerts that are not displayed for the intended system under the Zone Alerts icon.

Customizing the Summary Pane
You can customize the summary pane to help you perform your job more efficiently. Ways you can customize the summary pane include
Showing or hiding the Other Alerts icon This allows you to see only the alerts that you are responsible for.
Resizing and moving the summary pane This enables you to clearly see when new alerts arise, but still continue to work on other tasks, since the summary pane can take up a small piece of screen real estate.
Setting the Alerts window to always stay on top of other applications you open. This ensures that the Alerts window does not get lost behind other applications you are working on.
