Acknowledging Alerts

Acknowledge an alert to indicate that you are acting to resolve the condition that caused it. Once you mark an alert as acknowledged, it is marked as acknowledged in all instances of Operations Sentinel Console.

When you acknowledge an alert

To acknowledge an alert

  1. In the alerts pane, select the check box in the Acknowledge column of the desired alert.

The Acknowledge Alerts dialog box appears.

  2. The Acknowledge Alerts dialog box informs you that you are acknowledging one alert and allows you to enter optional comments. If you previously acknowledged another alert, any comments from that acknowledgment initially appear in the dialog box. Enter comments as desired.

Tip: It is recommended that your site develop a policy for the comments you enter. One possibility is to enter your initials and a description of the actions you took to resolve the problem. The information you supply is written to the appropriate logs.

  3. Click OK to acknowledge the alert. To avoid acknowledging the alert, click Cancel.

Alternative methods of acknowledging an alert include the following:

You can also acknowledge multiple alerts at one time by selecting the desired alerts in the alerts pane and performing one of the above methods.

If you remove the check mark from the Seen check box after acknowledging an alert, the appearance of the Zone Alerts or Other Alerts icon changes back to the appropriate severity.
