Opening a Terminal Session

A terminal session enables you to operate a terminal session on a managed system from your Operations Sentinel workstation. You can open a terminal session by right-clicking the image representing the system in a topology, or the row representing the system in a table. You can also open a terminal session by right-clicking an alert in the details pane, provided the alert applies to a managed system. In both Administration and Operations modes, you can open a terminal session from the Applications menu in the main window of Operations Sentinel Console.

Each time you open a terminal session, Operations Sentinel writes a message to the SP-EXTAPP log. This message includes the system name, the time you opened the session, your Windows login, and the process id (pid) of Operations Sentinel Console.

Note: Only an Operations Sentinel administrator can configure terminal sessions.
