About MCP Systems

An MCP system is a server or partition that uses the MCP operating system. This includes, but is not limited to, Libra Series, LX, NX, FS, and EA series.

To monitor and control MCP systems, you must install a copy of Operations Sentinel MCP Agent on each MCP partition. See the Operations Sentinel Interface for ClearPath MCP Installation and Configuration Guide for more information.

An SP-AMS database must be active on the Operations Sentinel server to enable the interface between each MCP system and the Operations Sentinel server. Before a system can send data to the Operations Sentinel server, the SP-AMS database must send a valid usercode and password to the MCP Agent. You might need to edit and compile your SP-AMS database to insert the appropriate usercode and password for each of your MCP systems.

A terminal session provides the console interface for an MCP system in Operations Sentinel Console.

Each partition of a partitioned MCP system must be represented by a unique managed object. For example, if you have an MCP system split into two partitions, you must create two managed objects, one for each partition.
