User is a read-writable built-in outputstream attribute that is used to associate a user name with output from ROC outputstreams, for security purposes. If it is not set to spaces, output is visible only to users signed on with the user name specified by User for the referencing outputstream, or with a user name of spaces. User is ignored for direct outputstreams.

The use of User with outputstreams is similar to the use of the Glb.User built-in segment attribute with reports.
