Using SMU

Getting Started

If you are creating a clone of your application using SMU, the source application remains unchanged. If you are updating your application using SMU, you should back up your application (including code and data files, and the database) before making any changes.

Before running SMU, you should:

Note: The extract pack of a report is not modified as part of an extract pack change if the PPB for the report does not contain a file-equate for GLBPAK, and the source file has been removed. If a file-equate for GLBPACK does not exist in the PPB for the report, then SMU looks in the source file for the report's extract pack. If neither of these are available, then SMU cannot validate the report's current extract pack name with the previous extract pack in the LINCCNTL file.

Running SMU

To run SMU from CANDE, enter the following command:

 RUN $( usercode )NGEN28/SMU ON dictpack [ ; FILE LINCCONTROL = equate ]

Here usercode is the Runtime usercode, and dictpack is the Dictionary pack for Runtime.

You can optionally specify an additional file-equate equate for LINCCONTROL, in which case your first screen (the Home screen) is displayed with existing information prefilled.
