Printing Reports Using the WRITE Request Screen

On the WRITE Request screen, enter your required choices and transmit. The properties on the Write Request screen are described in this subsection. (By default, the settings you defined for your previous Output Request are assumed for your current Output Request.)

Header Id

This property contains the Report unique number of your selected Report. You can change this to another Report number, if required. The maximum length is 8 characters.

Report

This property contains the name of your selected report. You might not change this value.

Filename

This property initially contains the value of Glb.Title for your selected Report.

This property might be changed only if the Device property contains EX and the Dest.Stn property contains an asterisk (*). If the filename is changed, this new value is the physical filename for your Report output. Otherwise, the default filename applies.

Enter the file name in the following form. (Do not enter a value of all spaces.)

The maximum length of the file value is 17 characters.

Start at Page or Line

Enter the page number or line number from which printing commences. By default, it is 0 (zero), indicating that printing is to start from the beginning.

End at Page or Line

Enter the page number or line number where printing ceases. By default, it is 0 (zero), which indicates that printing is to continue until the end of the report.

Device

Enter the device type for printing report output. Valid values are shown in the following table. By default, it is LP.

O/P Model

Enter the model name for the Terminal Printer where the Report is to be printed. This overrides the default of the model defined in the COMS Configuration file for the printer named in the Dest.Stn property.

Dest. Stn

This property contains the value of Glb.Stn if set within the Report.

If the Report Device is not EX, you can enter the network identification name of a terminal printer for your Report output. Refer to O/P Model property.

If the Report Device is EX, you must enter a value. Enter an asterisk (*) and a name in the Filename property to define an Extract file name. Enter a non-space value other than an asterisk (*) to create the default Extract file name.

Dest. Host

Enter a destination host name if the required printer is attached to another host. By default, it is your current host name.

Banner

Enter N if you do not want banner pages printed before and after your Report output. The defaults are to print banners for LP and RP Reports, but not for TP Reports.

Align Form

Enter Y if you want a test alignment pattern printed for special stationery. By default, it is N; that is, no alignment is printed. Refer to File property.

Copies

Use this property to enter the number of copies you want to printed. By default, it is 1.

File

Enter the name of a file that contains the test alignment pattern for your special stationery. There is no default. If no file name is entered, but alignment has been specified, the first page of your Report is used as the test format. Refer to Align form property.

Form Id

Enter the name of any special stationery required. The operator is requested to load the stationery using this name. There is no default.

Offset

Enter a column number at which each line of output is to start. By default, it is zero, which starts each line in the first position for the selected output device.

Squash Lines

Enter Y in the property to compress the width of the Report output. Multiple space characters between columns of information is replaced with a single space character. By default, it is N.

Width

Use this property to enter the output width for the output device. By default, it is the output device default width.

Confirm Request

Enter YES in this property if you do want to continue with this print request. By default, it is YES.

If YES is not entered, the previous data properties is validated, and any required default values is determined. The screen is then updated.
