Report Output Control System (ROC)

The Report Output Control system (ROC) manages the output for Reports. ROC is available for subsystems that are built with the System Uses ROC segment configuration property set to True. The interfacing ROC subsystem resides in the COMSTP program for your application.

All Report output, excluding that of direct Reports, is recoverable and fully device-independent.

ROC manages your Report output, and permits multiple uses of a single output file. Device-dependent control codes are applied as late as possible, to ensure maximum flexibility. Where possible, the actual delivery mechanism uses your standard system software. The delivery mechanism for Report hardcopy output is the Prints/Reprints subsystem.

You can use the Prints/Reprints subsystem with ROC selected or not; however, many print attributes are available only to Reports that use ROC.

Use of ROC is highly recommended, but if you choose not to take advantage of its many features you must be aware that all Reports for an application as a whole must use the same method. Refer to ROC Output Delivery Mechanism for more information.
