Installing Data Exchange Agent for SQL Server

The DE Agent for SQL Server can be installed using the Data Exchange - Setup Wizard.

Notes:

  • Ensure that all the prerequisite software are installed. Refer to Sections Supported Data Stores and Supported Operating Systems and Prerequisite Software.

  • It is recommended to install the DE Agent for SQL Server on the machine where the Runtime Service is installed.

  • You can install multiple versions of DE Agent for SQL Server on the same Windows partition. Ensure that the Data Exchange components and the DE Agent for SQL Server are at the same level.

To install the DE Agent for SQL Server

  1. Run the Data Exchange Setup using the Run as administrator option.

    The Unisys Data Exchange <version_number>- Setup Wizard appears.

  2. Click Install Windows component.

    The Data Exchange Management Studio (DEMS) Connection Settings page appears.

  3. Provide the following details:

    • DEMS Host: The full host name of the machine where you have installed DEMS.

    • Environment: The environment with which you have associated the user.

  4. Select DE Agent for SQL Server .

    The Unisys Data Exchange Agent for SQL Server <version_number>- Setup Wizard appears.

  5. Click Next.

    The Application User Credentials page appears. Select one of the following options:

    • Create a New Application User Account

    • Select an Application User from Existing Accounts

    • Use System Account as Application User Account

    If you select any of the first two options, then you must enter the appropriate information in the page that appears subsequently. If you select the third option, you can install the Runtime Service with the default “Local System” account.

    Note: For the application user account to access the source SQL Server database,

    • In the SQL Server Management Studio, create a login for the application user account.

    • Assign the "db_datareader" privilege to the application user account.

  6. Click Next.

    The default TCP Port number (9298) of the DE Agent for SQL Server is displayed. You can change the port number if the default port is already in use.

  7. Click Next.

    The Destination Folder page appears, displaying the default location where the DE Agent for SQL Server will be installed. Click Browse to change the default installation location.

  8. Click Next.

    The Ready to install Unisys Data Exchange Agent for SQL Server page appears.

  9. Click Install.

    The Installing Data Exchange Agent for SQL Server page appears, displaying the progress of the installation.

  10. Click Finish to finish the installation.

At any point during the installation, you can cancel the installation by clicking Cancel. You can go to the previous screen by clicking Back on all but the installation page.
