You can upgrade the existing s-Par firmware on one or more platforms to a higher version using the Forward Fabric Manager user interface.
Prerequisites:
Ensure that the firmware of the other components installed on the platform such as iDRAC, BIOS and so on are compatible with the new version of the s-Par firmware that you are planning to install. To know more about the other firmware that run on the platform, see the Unisys product support site.
s-Par status of the platform on which you wish to upgrade the firmware must be Running.
A higher version of s-Par firmware should be available on the platform. To know more about uploading s-Par firmware, see Uploading s-Par Firmware
No partitions must be running on the platform.
Notes:
The check box is unavailable if the s-Par status field status indicates Stopped or Unknown.
If there is no higher s-Par firmware version available on a platform, then the corresponding value in the New s-Par Version column displays None. higher version available.
Activate option is disabled if
No higher version of s-Par firmware is available on the selected platform
A partition image is running on the selected platform
Ensure that no operation such as commissioning a partition image is performed on the platform when the s-Par upgrade is in progress.
You cannot perform Upload and Activate simultaneously on the same platform.
To upgrade the existing s-Par firmware
On the Fabric Manager user interface, click Advanced Settings, and then click the s-Par Firmware tab.
The list of platforms on the fabric appears.
Select the platforms on which you want to upgrade s-Par firmware.
For each platform that you have selected, choose the required s-Par version from the drop-down list under Available s-Par Version.
Note: If you do not select any s-Par firmware version, the next available higher version of the s-Par firmware is selected by default.
Click Activate.
The Activate s-Par firmware window appears.
Click Activate.
The Confirmation window appears.
Click Yes.
The s-Par firmware Activate Status window appears displaying the Status, Platform Name and Firmware Name. The status of s-Par upload appears on the Event Console as an event with INITIATED status.
The platform reboots. Once the platform is in RUNNING status, you can view the success of the upload as an event with SUCCESS status. After the platform comes to RUNNING state, a success event is appears in the event console.
The Current s-Par Version column displays the new version of s-Par for the platforms.
Notes:
After s-Par firmware activation action is initiated from the Fabric Manager, it waits for 18 minutes to receive a response from s-Par. If no response is obtained in 18 minutess, an error message appears and an event is logged. You may contact the Unisys Support representative to resolve the problem. However, occasionally, the s-Par may take longer than 18 minutes to come online and is reachable. In such case, perform the following steps to upgrade:
Login to FMP using Putty.
Execute the perl script.
/usr/local/ffm/scripts/spar_upgrade/integration_postUpgrade.pl –h [spar_ip]
