Logging is a facility of Operations Sentinel that records messages and event reports that come from managed systems and software applications running with Operations Sentinel. The Log Policies node is in the Administration mode of Operations Sentinel Console and allows you to centrally manage the storage and retention of the log files containing these messages and event reports.
Typical Tasks
You can use the Log Policies node to
View logging states.
Enable or disable logging for continuous display messages in OS 2200 consoles.
Manage the automatic deletion of old log files by setting the maximum number of days log files are retained for each log.
Explicitly delete log files by changing the number of log files that are currently being retained for a log.
Delete logs. This includes deleting an entire log or particular sources of the log.
Configuration Considerations
Logging consumes both processing and disk space. Before your site begins logging, you should analyze its potential impact on your operations. See the Operations Sentinel Administration and Configuration Guide for more information.
Viewing Log Files
You can use the Operations Sentinel Log Viewer to view, search, filter, and consolidate log files. See the Operations Sentinel Log Viewer Help for more information.
