Once you have started OS 2200 Console View, you can open a view to an OS 2200 logical console. What you see after a view is open depends on the state of the OS 2200 logical console.
To open a new view to a console
Click New on the File menu.
The New View dialog box appears.
In the New View dialog box, enter the names of the system, partition, and console to which you want to connect.
Click OK.
OS 2200 Console View establishes the connection to the specified console.
A new view is temporary unless you save it. If you regularly access this console, save the view.
To open a previously saved view
Click Open on the File menu.
The Open View dialog box appears.
In the Open View dialog box, all Operations Sentinel servers defined for this workstation are automatically discovered by OS 2200 Console View (see Setting Up Your System). Double-click the desired server to display all console views for this selected server.
Click the desired view and click OK.
OS 2200 Console View opens the specified view.
To open a view to a different console
OS 2200 Console View can open only one view at a time. To open a view to a different console, either open a new view or open a previously saved view. (The current view automatically closes.)
Notes:
When you open a view to a logical console that is already active (Up), the connection state changes from "Unknown" to "In Progress" to "Up." When the OS 2200 partition is ready to accept input, OS 2200 Console View enables the command line and macros. OS 2200 Console View displays console messages as soon as the connection status is Up. This includes all messages currently being held by the logical console and any new messages that arrive. All new messages are delivered to all connected OS 2200 Console View sessions as soon as the console receives them.
When you open a view to a logical console before it is active (Up), OS 2200 Console View displays the full console name in the title bar. The connection state in the status bar indicates "In Progress." If you open a previously saved view, OS 2200 Console View applies the view's properties to the display. The command line and all other forms of console input are disabled. Once the logical console is active, the connection state changes to "Up."
Each time you start or exit a console view session, the look and behavior of your view remains the same. This allows you to keep any changes you made to the appearance of a view for future sessions. See About Personalizing Your Viewfor more information.
