Alert Policy: Example Two

After receiving approval to contract with a paging service that uses the TAP protocol, you must now change the alert policy you configured in Example Oneso that a service engineer is paged if a hardware fault is not acknowledged or resolved within 10 minutes.

Note: Example Two extends the alert policy in Example One.

To implement this change

  1. Under the Alert Policies node, click the alert policy you created in Example One.

  2. Add a modem template to the alert policy.

  3. Configure the following properties of the modem template:

    • The Service Name and Network Name of the modem.

    • The Dialing String needed to contact the paging service.

    • The Protocol, which should be TAP.

    • A PINs value, which identifies the engineer's pager.

  4. Add an action to the action list you created in Example One that refers to this modem template.

  5. Configure the following properties of the action:

    • Select Raise as the Action Event property value.

    • In the Text property, enter a short description of the problem. The description you specify as the Text is the message that is displayed on the pager.

    • Enter 10 for the Delay property value.

    • Select Minutes for the Delay Unit property value.

  6. Save the updated alert policy.

  7. Reactivate the updated alert policy.
