The following is a list of typical tasks that are completed in Administration mode:
Create and modify launch definitions for external applications.
Configure a logging policy that controls the storage of log files
Configure managed objects , such as servers, systems, and OS 2200 consoles. This task includes defining system performance thresholds for MCP and OS 2200 systems.
Configure managed groups. Use managed groups to define groupings of managed objects, based on how you perceive the operators at your site need to monitor and manage these objects.
Activate or deactivate an SP-AMS database
All administrative tasks are completed in Administration mode. You can also complete some tasks in both modes such as activating and deactivating SP-AMS databases.
Multiple users can view data in Administration mode at the same time. However, only one user can make changes at a time. Operations Sentinel prohibits other users from making changes until the person making the changes has saved them or discarded them. Users of Operations Sentinel Console can view the items that other users define only if they have been granted the permission to view data. Also, users cannot alter the items unless they have been granted the permission to modify data.
If a user makes changes to the Operations
Sentinel data and the Operations Sentinel Server services stop, any
changes that have not yet been saved may be lost.
See The Operations Sentinel Console User Interface for more information on using Operations Sentinel Console.
