The OBJECT/CDFORMAT program is used to copy files to CD-R or CD-RW media on a SCSI-3–compatible CD-R or CD-RW drive connected to an MCP system. This program can create media using the MCPNATIVE, JOLIET, and ISO 9660 formats. Although Library Maintenance can also write CD-R or CD-RW media in a library maintenance format, this program does not support the library maintenance format.

The CD-ROM Formatter program, which runs in the Windows environment, is available with very similar functionality to the CDFORMAT program. This program can be installed from the INSTALLS share on NX, LX, or CS servers.
