INVALIDATE Function

The INVALIDATE function reads the header information on the specified physical tape and, if the tape is a stacked tape, reads and interprets the metadata on the stacked tape. It then locates in the directory the volumes to be invalidated and marks them as invalid in the directory structure. Invalid volumes are not listed in the directory listing and cannot be unstacked.

Examples

The following are examples of commands using the INVALIDATE function:

  • U TSU INVALIDATE VOLID=2 ON UNITNO=94

  • U TSU INV “JL1” ON UNITNO=94
