The DESCANAL command performs a descriptor analysis for all descriptors and in-use areas in the dump.
This command can take several minutes to complete. To check on the progress of this command, you can enter the ?AX WHERE command after the ASD table has been read and before the descriptor sorting phase has started. To abort the DESCANAL command, you can enter the ?AX BRK command.

Explanation
The following text describes the meaning of each option.
DESCANAL
Displays the location of all in-use areas of the dump, all descriptors containing an address in the area, and miscellaneous descriptors that cannot be associated with a specific area.
DESCANAL ORPHANED
Displays areas for which no descriptor could be found and all miscellaneous descriptors.
