An installation can have several standard defines, default define declarations, or session control option specifications that are used frequently in a MAKEUSER run. This data is not saved in the USERDATAFILE, but the installation can create a file of this data (in card-image form) to be read automatically.

If a file titled DEFAULTDEFINES is present—or if the MAKEUSER file DEFAULTDEFINES has been file-equated to the title of some other present file—MAKEUSER processes this file as the first data before reading anything from the card file. Prepare the DEFAULTDEFINES file through CANDE, SYSTEM/PATCH, the DECK statement in WFL, or other mechanism.
