DIRECTORY

The DIRECTORY = <file title> modifier causes FILEDATA to report on the specified file or on all the files in the specified directory. If the file title represents a file and a directory, both are reported on. TITLE and DIRECTORY are synonyms.

The CONTAINER modifier uses the DIRECTORY or TITLE modifiers to select files out of the container. The DIRECTORY or TITLE specification must follow WFL syntax. If you specify no TITLE or DIRECTORY, the default is an equal sign (=). If FILEDATA is run under a privileged usercode, “*='' accesses all the files in a container.

If you specify DIRECTORY or TITLE in one task request, then FILEDATA uses the same file name for subsequent task requests unless you specify a new value for DIRECTORY or TITLE in those subsequent task requests. If you specify FAMILYNAME in a subsequent task request, that family name will override any other family name supplied in the DIRECTORY or TITLE specification for an earlier task request.

When TAPE is selected to access disk file headers from a library maintenance tape, the <file title> cannot include a <familyname> . Library maintenance syntax is used to specify the <file title>.

When no TITLE or DIRECTORY is specified, the default is ‘‘=.'' If FILEDATA is run under a privileged usercode, ‘‘*='' must be used to access all files on the tape.

The DIRECTORY modifier can specify the CD or CDROM options with the following task requests:

  • ATTRIBUTES

  • CODEFILEINFO

  • COMPATIBILITY

  • COPYDECK

  • FILENAMES

  • HEADERCONTENTS

  • INCOMPATIBILITY

  • NOREPORTS
